Caroline’s Visionary Activist Radio Show is a constantly evolving experiment in Radio Magic.
The show provides the Mythological News, the Themes of Now, and has as guests anyone with a piece of the puzzle for Dreaming, Conjuring and Implementing a more lovingly ingenious world.
Tune in on the web or Pacifica Radio Station KPFA (94.1 FM) in the San Francisco Bay area.
In Southern California, catch a re-broadcast on KPFK (90.7) every Friday at 1:00 pm and again at 3:00 am from “Something’s Happening at Midnight,” hosted by Buzz and Diane, carrying the legacy of the late Roy Tuckman, aka Roy of Hollywood.
Caroline welcomes Maria Moon to explore how Butoh plays with the wild tide of now – re-establishing equilibrium and unification with a certain lovely strangeness. Maria also proffers an invitation to the First Annual Birth of Butoh festival, taking place on Sunday March 12th at the Berkeley Art Center in North Berkley’s Live Oak Park from 1-6pm. World-renowned local East Bay treasures and living legends, Koichi and Hiroko Tamano, are the honored hosts of the event. Free to the public in the early afternoon outside, and a sliding scale of $10-30 for the evening, inside the Art Center Gallery, showcasing 11 groundbreaking Butoh dances. With a welcoming four directional prayer ceremony, festivalgoers will join in a parade accompanied by a band of accordion players, led by Kombrig Yaskin and Butoh Master Hiroko Tamano. There will be experiential performances, stunning archived Butoh films, and organic free form imagination movement workshops, as well as Japanese food and family friendly activities.
And playing a portion of Caroline’s recent rousing NCGR banquet address – the entirety of which is offered as a pledge enticement!
Slight backstage kerfuffles have shifted our plans – Today: Re*Play of Dark of Moon Council (– Caroline welcomes Patricia Ewing at our Dark of Moon Council, where we compost conniption fits and harumphitude, transform anger into desire, and derive our strategy from Aikido’s Art of Peace.
Caroline planned to welcome influential Story Crafters for Sane Reverence: Phyllis Young, leader in American Indian Movement, and her ally film-maker Tricia van Klaveren, making “Guardians of the Water,” a film to debut at the Standing Rock Film Festival… Composting Colonialism into nutrient for Sane Reverence.
This rousing and pertinent interview has been re-scheduled to be more perfectly live in DC studio on March 9th –Yip Yip!
Salam-Shalom! “Peace is not the absence of war – but the presence of One!” sayeth Deborah Felmeth, whom Caroline welcomes as her guest today. Deborah files scouting reports of Defiant Joy, having returned from 3 months in Syria, her beloved home. She is the author of the beautiful book of her photographs: “Syria-Remember Me”
“The visual images of turmoil in Syria are all too evident in today’s mass media as news and political machinations instill a culture of fear, wittingly or unwittingly—and shockingly few images of the cultural diversity, history, and beauty of the Syrian people can be found.
Here then is an opportunity to look, to learn, and to appreciate another side of Syria through the lens of simple photographs and daily living. The Syrian people shared with me abundant generosity and hospitality; they also showed me boundless dignity, simplicity, honor, and acceptance. Within the pages of this book, let us make a conscious attempt to witness the Syrian people themselves: just look.”
Our first guest Mark Bryan, a visual satirical genius:
“Raised in the middle class suburbs of Los Angeles County during the 1950s and 60s, Bryan was immersed in the popular culture of that time and place. Low budget Sci-Fi and horror movies, Super hero comic books, Mad Magazine, surrealist art and later the psychedelic work of Zap Comix artists such as Robert Crumb and Robert Williams were all part of the esthetic and psychological mix surrounding him. These influences combined with significant political events (which included The Red Scare, Civil Rights Movement and the Vietnam War) shaped and promoted an early political awareness and continues to affect the style and content of his work”
to honor their dedication resulting in these heartening victories:
“An entire watershed is valued as priceless and now is forever protected from unwarranted development, keeping fossil fuels in the ground, eliminating carbon emissions in a region where we can still drink from our rivers, have clean air to breathe, and where we still have some of the tallest coastal glacier capped mountains in the world.”
“This is a precedent-setting carbon conservation accomplishment that is monumental for numerous reasons,” said Dune Lankard, one of the founders of the Native Conservancy Land Trust and the founder of the Eyak Preservation Council. “Preserving the Bering River and Carbon Mountain watersheds not only addresses climate change in a real way, but also protects the ancestral homelands of the Chugach shareholders and maintains our vibrant subsistence and commercial fishing way of life,” Lankard said in an interview with The Cordova Times on Jan. 24.
“I am proud of Chugach Alaska Corp. for doing their part as Alaska Native Claim Settlement Act stewards in protecting the Copper River Delta. What a lot of people don’t realize is that the Chugach National Forest is still 98 percent roadless, and wild. The EPC and many, many Cordova residents, and fishermen, have worked tirelessly to keep it this way,” Lankard said.
