Caroline welcomes back Ed Tick, who has been working with returning vets since the Vietnam War, and now, from the even more horrific Iraqi invasion. His latest book, “War and the Soul, Healing Our Nation’s Veterans from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder,” is as crucial as Al Gore’s recently released film on catastrophic climate change. Both are essential to put on our work table, and say now, from knowing all this, let’s truly begin the conversation and the true heroic work before us. Ed has said that Homer’s Ulysses is a manual for bringing vets home, requiring ten years of purification, story-telling, soul-recovery, maturation… This task belongs to all of us, and only in this way can we truly prevent war and engage in the true heroism of dynamic peace.
