The Soul and Science of Forests

 

Cooling out the conflagration: Caroline welcomes the return of Diana Beresford-Kroeger, and her latest book, “Our Green Heart – The Soul and Science of Forests”

“Diana Beresford-Kroeger is a world recognized author, medical biochemist, botanist and climate change visionary. She possesses a unique understanding of modern western science and ancient Celtic knowledge. Orphaned in Ireland in her youth, Beresford-Kroeger was educated by her Irish elders who instructed her in the Brehon knowledge of plants and nature. Told at a young age that one day she would need to bring this ancient Celtic knowledge to a troubled future, Beresford-Kroeger has done exactly that.

Diana has been working to preserve the environment since the early 1960s when she identified climate change as one of the most important challenges we would face in the modern age. This set her on a course of rigorous scientific study where she achieved a masters in botany and two PHD’s – one in biochemistry and the other in biology.”

“In a nutshell, these essays show us all the many ways we are bound for our survival to one another and to the natural world, bound from the atomic level to the planetary one. Rev Sara Jolena Wolcott is a witchy minister and healer who sees Origin Stories as potent points for systemic change. A descendant of some of the founding fathers of the United States of America, her work of retelling her own family and national history has led her to perceive some big stories very differently. Prior to her current work, she engaged in climate change adaptation overseas, which led her to recognize the spiritual and cultural potentiality of regenerative cultures, leading her to study eco-theology at Union Theological Seminary in the City of New York. After graduating Seminary, she started Sequoia Samanvaya and teaches some of the art and practice of ReMembering and ReEnchanting our place in the world.
