Good Medicine and Rewilding

Caroline welcomes Seán Pádraig O’Donoghue (encore encore) with his ally, Jesse Wolf Hardin, conjurer of the Good Medicine Confluence,

who writes: “I came to herbs through my early organizing of Earth First and work with animists from Terry Tempest and Metzner to Oberon Zell, and the rants that herbalists bear from me now are like those given in front of forest service headquarters and at bedazzled pagan gatherings.  The world/civilization has never been closer to self destructive madness than now, culture never so diluted and commercialized, and damn, few destroyers truly enjoying themselves in the process.  Herbalism is just one language for the crucial call to come back to wild self, healing mission, beauty and pleasure.  You are clearly an agent of the same, with a not dissimilar dialect.”

Jesse Wolf Hardin is an influential author, ecosopher, ecological and societal activist, personal counsel, graphic artist, musician, and historian – a champion of both human and bio diversity, as well as of nature’s medicines. Wolf was a leading organizer of and presenter for Earth First!, becoming a featured presenter at hundreds of conferences and universities, and was the creator of cross cultural ecospiritual collaborations appropriately called “Medicine Shows” that melded his powerful spoken word with live music, indigenous presenters, and focused activism. He cofounded the international Good Medicine Confluence gathering in 2008, along with the in-depth digital magazine for herbalists, healers and folklorists Plant Healer Quarterly. He is the author of over 800 published articles in over 200 different publications, as well as of over 25 books.
